This is the third year the committee will recognize ten former students of the Springfield City Schools system who have made outstanding accomplishments following graduation, the steering committee chairman reported. There was also a special program and luncheon during the school day on April 4th that acquainted current North and South High School students with the outstanding alumni.
According to Dr. Umbaugh, this annual program made "our students, as well as the citizens of our area, aware of the graduates from the Springfield City School system who have gone on to distinguish themselves through outstanding performance and/or achievement in their chosen field of endeavor or who have made significant contributions to their community.”
The Friday dinner and recognition program were open to the public and was carried out by the Alumni of Distinction Award Steering Committee.
